Biomolecular Systems Research

The vast amounts of research carried out at SSBC are conducted with the understanding that life is a system, comprising proteins, DNA, RNA, sugars, lipids and other molecules. Our research mainly focuses on systems that support important life phenomena. Through researching these systems in detail, we are aiming for a comprehensive understanding and reconstruction of life. Our researchers are elucidating the physicochemical mechanisms of system interactions at the molecular structural level by various approaches, including reconstituting various systems in vitro and in vivo, analyzing molecular structures and functions, and searching for inhibitory agents. Research findings are then used as the basis for understanding and manipulating the temporal and spatial behaviors of molecular systems, as well as for logical system design and prediction.
